Little Zeland with cotton in his ears after I gave him ear drops to help with the pain. Yesterday I took Zeland for a follow up with our pediatrician Dr. West. Zeland's right ear is still infected. Dr. West gave us a prescription for antibiotics but he is not at all confident that the antibiotics are even helping at this point. He said that he didn't want us to even fill the script unless Z was really miserable. He would like the specialist to see his ears as they are now. Our appointment with the ENT is on Tuesday. From there I am assuming they will schedule Zeland for tubes and hopefully they can schedule him soon. For now we are going to just hope that we can manage any ear pain with Motrin and ear drops and if it gets to bad we will fill the script for antibiotics. Last night he was up once in the middle of the night and seemed uncomfortable so I gave him some motrin and rocked him until he went back to sleep. I feel so sad that he has had ear pain since he was 4 months old. Hopefully the end of ear infections will be very soon.

Poor Z. I'm not happy about his getting ear tubes, but if it will solve the problem and end the pain then it should be done. Hopefully, the doctors will be able to come to the best decision for him.
Hope Z feels better soon, and the ENT solves the continuing problem. Perhaps the ENT might try another drug or treatment that might work before trying the ear tubes. As an adult, a good ear cleaning fixed the problem. Something got stuck in my ears.
he seems to be feeling better today. He slept throught the night last night so that is a good sign. I am not sure what other options the ENT can offer us.. but I guess we will find out on Tuesday. I will also be reserching prior to our appointment.
