Cranky baby = cranky daddy

This weekend we went to cottonwood and spent time with our parents and friends. All of us are fighting colds so I hope we didn't infect everyone with our sickness! It was a nice relaxing weekend. I have to work today (Monday) but I was off Friday so that kinda makes up for having to work on a holiday.

I worked my first week of night shift last week and it was crazy but I think once we get a routine down that it will be totally worth it. I have been getting home around 5:00am and going to sleep then waking up with the kids to get Cam ready for school and Z to daycare. I get home around 8:45 and sleep until 2:45ish. When I wake up I shower and then go get the boys. I get home around 4:00 and get ready for work, get Cameron started on homework, and hug and play with Zeland. Andrew usually is home around 5:00pm. We say hello and I give him the run down of where Cam is with homework and what Z is up to. Then I rush out of the house by 5:15!!!! I feel pretty good physically...The only thing I am worried about is my migraines. I haven't had many lately, just one or two in the past year but I felt one coming on last Thursday. Luckily I caught it on time. I will not be able to do the night shift and deal with a migraine every week so I guess we will just have to see how it works out and if I can't keep doing the night shift I will have to find something else. I really love my job and I am just praying it all works out.

Andrew has been doing a fantastic job with the boys at night. Cameron is pretty self sufficient and he knows what he needs to do before bed and doesn't need much help....Zeland on the other hand is pretty high maintenance!! He is also pre-teething and has a bit of a cold which has made for a very cranky baby at times. He has also been waking up alot at night which makes for a cranky daddy! Since I wasn't working I had been doing the majority of getting up with Zeland so this has been a rough week on Andrew.

I am at work and spoke with Andrew around 8:00...Cameron is reading and Zeland was asleep so things seem to be going well lets hope Zeland sleeps all night.

Cranky grandmother, too! Well maybe not cranky but tired. I think I tried to do too much this week end. Don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed having the Snow/Wadey family with us, but yesterday I tried to do too much around the house. I should know better.

I guess Andrew must get his need for sleep from me--I really feel it when I don't get enough. I was just lucky that both Charlie and Andrew were good babies and slept through the night at an early age.
I think it will all get better when everyone adjusts to the new schedule. Nancy

That's a hectic schedule for sure... I bet you all can't wait for the weekends.

I am not sure what to do with Mr. Zeland...he is waking up three times a night with Andrew. When I am there he sleeps straight through till five or maybe wakes up once at 3:00am....Andrew is one cranky daddy!

Although I am a night owl, I don't think I could handle those work hours. Hope it works out for you folks. Cheezhead Robin

Maybe Andrew just needs to let him cry it out. Babies definitely react differently when their situation changes, but if you know that he can sleep until 5am, and Andrew wakes up with him at 12 and 3 and 5am, I'd worry that it may become more habit than anything else. Not necessarily manipulation, but a daddy habit.

I make Aurora cry it out or give her a paci if it's earlier than 4am, because I know she can at least make it to 4.

I would be a zombie. Wait, I am a zombie! Hey, nobody said having a baby was easy, but I think/hope the good outweighs the bad, even for cranky daddies.

Zeland has been sleeping well these last few nights. He has only been waking up once. Its hard for us to let him cry it out since he is sharing a room with Cam. I hope he is on the fast track to NOT waking up at all but I think I may be cursed with kids who don't like to sleep. Cameron still wakes up in the middle of the night sometimes!!
