Mini Vacation

To celebrate my first weekend off in 6 months (aside from the wedding), the return of the beloved Big Brother and our recently purchased new vehicle we decided to go on a mini vacation. Saturday we were going to go to California and hit the beach but I had Monday off and Andrew didn't so we decided to go the the next best place... Cottonwood!! Ok maybe not the next best place but our family and friends are there and no one else was throwing out any ideas. We stayed at the Quality Inn just to make things even more exciting! It wasn't the fanciest of digs but we had two rooms and Zeland sure loved running around and exploring. Grandma Nancy, Nana and Nicole all came over and helped us take advantage of the pool. Funny thing about the Quality Inn pool was back in my wild teenage years I used to sneak in with my friends to swim. I gotta say it was nice to swim without fear! :) Saturday night Grandma Nancy was kind enough to watch Zeland while Andrew, Cameron and I went and had sushi with Nicole. I am not big on Sushi but Nicole took care of that an ordered me a vegetarian mountain roll. I think for a moment I may have died and gone to heaven. Andrew, who loves sushi was more then happy with whatever fishy thing he ordered and Cam was just along for the ride he had filled up on pizza before hand.

Sunday we went to Out of Africa. Not exactly the best idea during the summer but we still managed to have a good time. I think I just about cooked Zeland. He really loved Tiger Splash and got really excited when the tigers would come near the fence where we were sitting. Cameron has been there a few times before so after Tiger Splash he was pretty much ready to go. We usually go on the safari ride where you get to feed the giraffes but it was just way to hot. We can save that for next time.

As far as mini vacations go I think everyone had a fun time. We got to stay at a hotel, eat out every meal, see our family and friends, see some cool animals and just hang out all together will no rushing around. I am so happy to have Cameron back and I think another little person is happy to have his big brother back too. :)

Oh and one last thing...Happy birthday to Uncle Chuck!! It was actually August 1st but hey better late then never....right?!

Sounds like a fun, family trip. Saw the photos of Nancy petting a python, did anyone else pet it, too? I wouldn't get anywhere near it, but I know John likes to pet snakes. He petted a snake at an Adventure Travel Show where he later shook hands with Astronaut Buzz Aldren. We love Out of Africa, too, especially the Tiger Splash.

oh heck no!! I do NOT like snakes and I am pretty sure no one else was eager to pet a python!

Nancy will touch anything.

Thanks for the birthday shout out!

I think she was I think she was pretending to be afraid of snakes just so she could go up there!! She didn't seem like she was afraid...silly Nancy!!

It was really a fun week end. I enjoyed Out of Africa despite the heat. As for the snakes, I really don't like them, but I decided if the staff handles them and thinks it's okay for the rest of us to do so, then they (the snakes) can't be that bad. I surprised myself by handling the snake. What does Amber mean by "Nancy will touch anything?" Let it be known that I would not go anywhere near a rattlesnake (unless it had been depoisoned--do they do that to rattlers?)
