Surgery Day

Zeland had is tubes put in on Tuesday. We had to be at the surgery center at 6:30am for a 7am surgery. I think that we were back at home by 8am. The actual procedure took about 10 min. We just had to wait there a while to make sure he came out of the anesthesia ok. He was not a happy camper when they called us back to be with him in recovery. The doctor said he drained out a lot of thick fluid and that he is so glad we made the decision to get the tubes since Zeland very much needed them. We stayed with Zeland in recovery for about a half an hour. He pretty much cried the whole time going back and forth from me and Andrew. The nurse said he was probably seeing double and dizzy. Poor kid had no idea what was going on. Once we got home he had a bottle and finally calmed down. We gave him so breakfast and put him down for a nap. After he woke up he was pretty much back to normal. He has had a little bloody drainage which is normal but other then that no problems. We are giving him the antibiotic drops three times a day for the next two weeks. We will follow up with Dr. Simms just to make sure all is good.

So glad all went well. I was thinking about him all day Tuesday. I'm happy he's back to his good old Zeland self. I didn't like the idea of his having the surgery and tubes, but it sounds like he really needed it. I can't wait to see him again--maybe a week from tomorrow. I have lots of good pictures of his birthday party I want to share. I've shared some of them already via email. Hope you don't get tired of the pictures. After all, he only turns one year old once.

Glad to hear that Z is recovering well. Hope the tubes are a total cure.
