Zeland about three weeks ago started sleeping through the night from about 7pm-7am. The all of the sudden he started waking up again once or twice a night. This was followed by a runny nose and a cough. Which was a sure sign that he had yet another ear infection. I have lost count of how many ear infections he has had. We were hoping that with warmer weather he wouldn't have anymore but once again he has a double ear infection. A few nights on the antibiotic he is sleeping through the night again without a runny nose or any coughing. Our pediatrician is recommending that we see a specialist(ENT) about the possibility of putting tubes in his ears. We are very concerned about him becoming antibiotic resistant as well as his hearing. Not that I think he can't hear but if he continues having chronic ear infections like he has he defiantly runs the risk of having some hearing loss which can lead to speech problems. The surgery is minimal -- the worst part for the child is actually just waking up from the anesthetic (they are confused and don't feel good). I am calling the ENT's office on Monday so hopefully we can get in soon and have some idea of what the next step is.
Andrew got a new truck this week. We had been looking to get rid of my car which was about to need some serious repairs. It seems as though lately we are always in need of a truck. Andrew has been looking for a few months for one he wanted and finally found a 2003 Dodge Dakota. I sold my car for $700, which is pretty good considering it had no AC, needed some brake work, had a window that you could not roll up, and the clutch was about to go out. The dodge runs great can totally fit everyone. We are going to start working on our back yard and the truck is going to come in very handy when we need to dispose of the deck the previous owners built. It was a pretty sloppy job they did so we are taking it out and replacing it with some sod. After all is said and done we hope to have a nice place to hang out.

Nice truck! I like red.
I had lots of ear aches when I was little, too, but never had any tubes. I guess that's a new option.
Hope Z gets better soon.
Whoa, that IS a nice truck! I like it :)
My friend just got tubes in her daughter's ears, and everything went so smoothly - now she's much happier. I don't know how I'd feel if Aurora needed tubes, but it does seem to be a good option. Nothing like a good night's sleep as motivation!!! Oh yeah, and avoiding speech therapy. Defintely.
So sorry to hear of Zeland's ear infections. I hope it can get sorted out soon. I don't like for him or you to be suffering.
Nice truck. It should be really useful to the family and enjoyable. I can't wait to see it--maybe Mother's Day week end.
